When Brandon Burnett writes a song it's not a one off, but another chapter in an on going story to fully realize his own identity through an epic journey of multiple albums. Earning his nick name, "Broke String", Brandon has spent the last several years, honing his skills and writing as much as possible.
The debut of his full length album, 2/3/23, will be an experiment in Broke String's own brand of country music, a psychedelic, cosmic country fever dream.
Broke String is a uniquely Texas song-crafter from Fort Worth. A country music crooner with punk rock attitude, Broke String focused his energy on songwriting during the 2020 pandemic, writing more than he ever had before in his 12 years as a guitarist. Determined to produce a fully realized project, it all came full circle when he teamed up with his long time friend, Calan Rawl, to produce a new album. After a few false starts dealing with the complexities of pandemic times, the collaboration lead to tracking a 12 song album they titled "Doppelganger", a thread that runs throughout the album, dealing with the light and dark sides of life and the gray areas that make for deep, interesting story telling and characters. The lead single, "She Turned Into A Shadow" debuted on 91.7 KXT's The Local Show. Their next single, "Stardust", premieres Friday, Jan. 20.
Broke String Burnett and his band look forward to spreading their "swampy spaghetti western" beginning with their Album Release Party at THE POST AT RIVER EAST Friday, February 2 with THE RYE BOYS.

“Each of the 12 tracks on “Doppelganger” explore similar motifs, but are imperfect reflections of one another, toggling between light and dark themes and, occasionally, major and minor keys.” - Marcheta Fornoff
“Take the soul of Townes Van Zandt, the voice of Sturgill Simpson and the and musical landscape of Willie Nelson and you get a sense of how local musician Brandon — Broke String Burnett — got his inspiration.” - Stephen Montoya
“The swampy Spaghetti Western vibes of Broke String Burnett..hit the interwebs..with the single “Got It Bad.” If the haunting, Hank-ian ballad is any indication of the proposed full-length that the cowboy singer-songwriter has in store for February, it will be in regular rotation on road trips on lonely Texas roads all summer.” - Juan R. Govea
“Doppelgänger is 12 tracks of moody, dark, old-school country in the vein of Orville Peck and Sturgill Simpson, with psychedelic, Radiohead-esque flourishes. Think of it as “cosmic country.” - Juan R. Govea
“Broke has one of the richest voices we’ve ever heard, and his performance on this record is beautifully catchy. The atmosphere of "Got It Bad" is unique and the production is simple and professional. The acoustic guitar is stunning and there is a great level of songwriting that shines through this record..” - Fresh Finds
“Broke String Burnett is putting his best foot forward with “Got It Bad”. A polished and well-written single that will stick in your head all day long. And the stunning vocals need your attention from start to finish...as a songwriter and visionary, we are sure he will raise the bar in his new album next year… Whether it’s the rich songwriting or the impressive vocals, we’re confident you’ll love ..“Got It Bad”.” - Sarah Jickling
